Annotation: According to the Civil Law article No. 122, if the end of the period time is a holiday, it may be calculated on to the following day.

Guidance of Convenience Measures

1.Flexible office hours at one counter from Monday to Friday (12:00P.M. to 1:30 P.M.)

2.People can go to any household registration office to apply for acknowledgement registration, adoption registration, birthplace registration, replacement of ID card, replacement or supplementary of household register, thus making people free from the trouble of traveling from place to place.

3.Registration of relocation can be processed at a household registration office. No need for moving-out registration. *Any false relocation registration (ghost population) may cause not only incorrect demographic statistics but also offend the Criminal Law Article 146, the crime of hinder voting result. Once has been found, his/her household will be revoked to the original domicile, and he/she will be penalized according to the Household Registration Law and be executed forcedly to the court if the pine unpaid.

4.Any application for registration of marriage, divorce, acknowledgement, adoption and termination of adoption, can be processed in any domicile census office where one of the parties concerned. The computer shall continue following steps.

5.Instant issuance of initial/replacement/supplementary of ID card (those who apply for the re-issuance of ID card provide the certificate with photo issued by governmental department to prove his identity.) * No need guarantee for the supplementary of loss of ID card. *ID card is a very important document for identifying a person, therefore, do not sell it or rent it to others. *You may go to any household registration office nearby personally to report the loss of ID card or call the census office if you are in the domicile place. If you are not in Taiwan, you can entrust it with someone to report the loss.

6.Application for household registry and household certificate can be done by internet, postal mail or somebody entrusted.

7.Except due reasons approved by the census office, the applications for adoption registration, adoption termination, guardianship, marriage and divorce by consent, can not applied by power of attorney.

8.Immediate processing for name changes for applicants of age 14 and below.

9. According to Name Act Article 5 to Article 7, any application for a change in his/her Chinese family name, a new family name, a return to his/her original name, a name change, a change in both his/her Chinese family name and name, must be made by the person concerned or by his/her legal representative.

10.For senior, disabled, severely sick, physically challenged, who might not be able to come to the office, please contact us for home services.

11.According to the document promulgated by Ministry of the Interior, No. Tai-Nei8505432 on December 30, 1996, the parents should make the application together on behalf of their minor child for household registration (moving-in and out), name change, ID card, personal signet registration or certificate, etc. A letter of agreement by the other parent should be submitted in case he/she is unable to come.
